Magnetic Chair Therapy
This treatment is called Neocontrol Pelvic Floor Therapy and has been utilised for faecal incontinence, male post radical prostatectomy incontinence, overactive bladder, post partum incontinence as well as stress, urge and mixed urinary incontinence. It is based on Extracorporeal Magnetic Innervation or ExMI technology. ExMI works by building strength and endurance in the muscles of the pelvic floor.
The treatment involves the patient sitting, fully clothed, on a specially designed chair for 22 minutes of therapy. The treatment is administered by a Registered Nurse under the supervision of an Urologist. Generally the therapy is well tolerated and 2-3 sessions a week are recommended over a 6-8 week period. To obtain maximum benefit from this treatment it is advised that the 6-8 week period is completed consecutively without interruption.
The cost per treatment is $40.00 GST inclusive.
There are several contraindications to using Neocontrol therapy which could preclude some patients. These include:
1. Patients who are pregnant
2. Patients who have an implantable cardiac pacemaker or cardioverter defibrillator
3. Patients with a history of cardiac arrhythmia
